What's the difference between a public and a private group?
Groups can be public or private. Public groups are run by ambassadors and private groups can be created and run by any member of the community. Anyone can join a public group but only invited members can join a private group to view and join the discussion.

What are the community Do’s and Don’ts when posting in groups or in the GL Blog?
Don't use, "um", be snotty to another poster, or make an argument personal. Don’t present your opinions as facts. Don’t post the same opinion over and over in the hopes of wearing other people down or "winning" a discussion; just move on. Don’t use all-caps or excessive punctuation. Don't post 'me too" messages; add something of substance to the conversation. Don't sign your posts. Don't post copyrighted articles; link to them. Don't discuss the previews for the next episode in the current episode topic; take it to speculation. Don't bug the group moderators (ambassadors) to remove warnings.
Do know the difference between differences of opinion and personal attacks. Do search for existing topics before starting new threads. Do use proper spelling, capitalization, punctuation, et cetera. Do take any mod warnings you get seriously. Do help us out and report troublemakers.

I get too many email Updates. How do I stop this?
Updates are sent to you according to your preferences set for each group. This can be as frequent as "Immediate," for groups you want to actively monitor; it can also be set to Daily, Weekly, or Never. For example, if you have multiple groups set to "Immediate," you will likely receive Updates throughout the day. However, if you have all of your groups set to "Daily," you'll receive one Update each morning.

How do I use the Search function?
The Search function is an easy way to narrow down what you are looking for. Type in a word or words to search on and you will be displayed all entries that match your search criteria. Your search only returns matches that are in the location you are in. For example if you are in the Groups section and search “Josh Lewis” it will bring up groups that include Josh Lewis.

Is there a simple guide to this community that can tell me what I can do in each section?
Main Community Home Page
This is where you can join – just click on the JOIN button.
Participate in the community’s Poll or Downloads whether you are a member or not.
Read about what the community is discussing in the Community Buzz, Guiding Light Blog and Featured Groups sections.
Learn about the community’s Ambassador Program and Community Rewards Program and how to be a Member of the Month.
Members Home Page
Once you join this will be your home page to the Guiding Light Community.
In the center is all your personal info called My Stuff which includes your profile, your pics, your messages, your invitations to join public and private groups and your friends.
Underneath My Stuff is called The Community Feed which is where all your posts in private and/or public groups will be displayed.
The right hand column features a lot of content found on the main page except for Community Features which is exclusive content that is only available to members of the community and My Groups which displays a drop down box of all the public and private groups that you have joined.
My Stuff Page
This is where you can access your Profile, Friends, Bookmarks (favorite posts from the community), My Pics and My Messages both incoming and outgoing, and settings. You can set your profile as to whether it’s private, viewed by friends or viewed publically.
Members Page
This is where you can connect with other like minded Guiding Light members. If you know someone’s username you can use the search function or you can just sort through the pages. If someone’s profile is public – you can review their profile to see if you have any common interests to connect on. The advantage of setting your profile public is that you are more likely to connect with others. Members are sorted alphabetically or you can either choose ALL, just AMBASSADORS, or just FANS.
Groups Page
This is also a place to connect with other like minded Guiding Light fans but here is where you have the opportunity to join public groups based on your favorite character(s) or couples(s). Community ambassadors are the only community members that can moderate public groups. All requests for new groups need to go through the GL Team. Groups are sorted alphabetically or you can either choose ALL, just CHARACTERS, just COUPLES or OTHER or MOST RECENT. This is also the place where any member of the community can create a private group and as creator of this group, you can decide how many members can join
